Description

Back in the old days... Miss Strong and her daughter, Nadine. Of course, the sixties were a turbulent time in the South. There were more than a few raised eyebrows, and plenty of tongues wagging about how a young white gal could have been adopted by an unmarried, dark-skinned woman. (Miss Strong insists she's not black.) Another gossipy topic was speculation about the scars on Nadine's face. Never attempting to hide them, she coyly dismissed the scars as a "birth trauma" but neglected to mention she was twenty-two at the time. Despite all this, Nadine's sunny disposition and Miss Strong's "aura of danger" quickly led to their acceptance in Hillville. This was the beginning of something special... I wanted to have a few more shots of Nadine in the near future, so I figured I should go ahead and introduce her. For those who have been following along, she is Didi and Kelly's mother. I'm doing the best I can with what I have for 60's fashion. I'm also going for that "vintage photo" effect, like an old snapshot. I read a tutorial online... What do you think, did I ruin it?

I'm glad I found this piece. It explains a bit about these characters. That pentegram would have probably raised just about as much s*** in the south as being the single black mother of an adopted white child. Talk about a triple whammy... tells me Grandma is a really strong character. My one quible would be that I think the scars were a bit overdone here, at first I thought they were stray strands of hair... unless they were meant to look really fresh.
