Description
‘..But wandering in the summer in the woods of Neldoreth [Beren] came upon Lúthien, daughter of Thingol and Melian, at a time of evening under moonrise, as she danced upon the unfading grass in the glades beside Esgalduin. Then all memory of his pain departed from him, and he fell into an enchantment; for Lúthien was the most beautiful of all the children of Ilúvatar.’
I’ve wanted to do my interpretation of Luthien for a long time. Hope I’ve come reasonably close to doing her justice according to Tolkien’s description.
I used the lovely Alina character by PennyKay as a base for Luthien. The hair base is Summer Dream Hair by Magix-101. I ‘expanded’ on the hair in Photoshop.
The dress was done entirely in Photoshop for a couple reasons: first, I couldn’t find exactly what I was seeking (there are lots of beautiful clothes out there, just not what I needed for this piece ;-]) Plus, I’m still inexperienced enough with Poser that I’m basically lousy with clothes – I can’t seem to get them to fit right no matter how many of those little dials I twirl!
The background is a photo taken during our vacation in October, with multiple layers for the stars, moon (another photo by yours truly), and lighting effects. I created the lamp in Photoshop as well.
I have several more Tolkien inspired pieces I will be working on in the coming months.
