Jetses ( 1873-1955) has been a famous Dutch illustrator. Illustrated children books and was most famous for his school boards. Two main figures of his children stories are Ot and Sien, here a photograph of these two in a garden sculpture. I’ve placed them in a romantic surrounding. I do remember these two from a planche at school. It was for early reading lessons and went something like Aap, Noot, Mies. Ot and Sien were on it too. I still can see it as it was hanging in the corner of the class room. The children were in the reading books also. (I went to school in a village somewhere in Drenthe. The school today is part of a prison, and the difference can't be that large. Far from all my memories from that school ar as good as what this picture brings back.)
