a good shot with all the colours showing up well. it is only your American Robin, totally unrelated to our good old European Robin. The US bird book i always recommend is this: http://www.amazon.com/Birds-North-America-Revised-Updated/dp/1582380902 it is not as flashy as many other guides, but it is, imho, unlikely to be surpassed for clarity and utility. if money is tight, go second-hand (or pre-owned), and take it with you wherever you go.

Extremely wonderful robin shot. Not only is the feather detail and the clarity of the eye a draw, but the little hook of the one toe is delightful. Excellent portrait of one of my favorite song birds.

Stand up Rob...let me pin your bird badge on:) You've captured this little guy in detail and excellent focus. This is the American Robin... I was very surprised to see that Robins in Europe have different coloring. I'm not on the sales force for anybody but I bought a, "National Geographic Field Guide to the Birds of North America", from Amazon.com. This Robin is written up and illustrated on pp. 360-361. These birds are very, very common here...maybe not in Florida.

I don't know much about birds, but I recognize American Robbins immediately...they were always after the very worms I was trying to catch as a kid. I think they tend to favor the Midwestern United States, because ever summer here, they're all over the place, usually with grackles and starlings...other migratory birds. You know when it's summer because they're stealing all of the worms. Great work here. I love the details and the expression on this little guy's face. Wonderful work!

Wow!!! Ok you deserve the RR bird badge. But I am getting jealous of your new lens... LOL just kidding, you have gotten some great shots with it!!! Yes you need a bird book... I have eyewitness handbook Birds Of The World and Birds Of Texas... but I usually ask my Bill first.. and if he doesn't know we look in the books. Have a Great Thanksgiving with your Dad!!!
