Description
The Lincoln Memorial is an American memorial built to honor the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. It is located on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. and was dedicated on May 30, 1922. The statue stands 19 feet 9 inches (6 m) tall and 19 feet (6 m) wide.
Abraham Lincoln was president at a time when the new Republican party was considered radical in it’s policies. Lincoln oversaw the growth of the central government at the expense of states rights and brought an end to slavery in the United States. He hated war and believed in showing mercy to his enemies. How things have changed.

He hated war, yes. But even he waged it.

And a kind Aquarius he was. Love your perspective in this photo.

Wonderful choice of detail to capture. I checked to see if Lincoln was left handed and that seems to be open for debate. But whether this hand wrote the words or held the paper, it did mighty deeds. I love the focus on the hand. Lincoln cared about what would heal the discord in the country. Things have changed indeed.

I have stood in front of this, my favorite of all statues, at 3AM, alone in the glow of the spot lights. Could not help to shed tears. Great POV and wonderful words. Dana
