Description

At the time of the building of Little Moreton Hall in Tudor times 16thc....chimneys were an addition to houses, both great and modest, and they showed that these buildings had a fireplace! This hall is in the provinces, far from the in london and its surrounding area..but even here ,the builders were showing they were up to date! Worth noticing the verticality of one chimney..not quite there! This is a beautiful collection of buildings in S Cheshire, and well worth a detour..as they say in the Michelin guides. For stunning works of chimney art, Hampton Court has fabulous examples....thanks for all your recent comments...Jean

I had never thought about fireplaces as an addition ... what a time that must have been! These are great ... unabashedly ostentatious!

Dear Jean, I admire chimneys especially in London and Strassbourgh. This is another nice surprise. Well seen and captured!

I'm surprised they weren't used as addresses too...especially if they were all distinct. I rather like the not-exactly-vertical one. It's richly detailed, just a little bit gravitationally challenged. I love the textures and colors. Wonderful work.
