Description

I haven't uploaded a photo in a while and my wife keeps bugging me to upload some of my better ones. She thought you all might enjoy this one of a woodpecker I took fairly recently when we were away on our 22nd anniversary get-away up in Northern New Hampshire USA. I took the picture near the Silver Cascade Falls in Crawford Notch. I used my Nikon D70S camera with the 400MM VR Telephoto lens. What do you think?

The only problem I have with woodpeckers is that our house has real wood siding and they go after the bugs that hide underneath. It sounds like someone is beating the side of the house with a hammer! This is a nice picture, nevertheless!

A very pretty bit of color in the VERY northern woods of New Hampshire...you got a great picture, honey. For those who don't know, mrestey is my dear husband...and I was with him when he took these pictures. A VERY pretty bird in the great north of New Hampshire.

I wrote a much longer comment but decided to delete and start again. This is a fine photo and I can see that your wife is very proud of your photographic skills. Well done, hugs Jane xx

I do like this one. These woodpeckers are quite a site to watch. Yes, even with 400mm we still cannot seem to get close enough! I zoomed the image and got the good view.

It looks good! One day you will get the chance to be closer but this looks like a very good prime lens. It is very expensive isn't it?

My only thing with this is its messy surroundings but its a case of getting as close as you can, or passing up on shot. Still a nice catch.
