On Aviation and Photography:
"You haven't seen a tree until you've seen its shadow from the sky." -- Amelia Earhart
“You don't take a photograph, you make it.” - - Ansel Adams
UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Wowww! What a spectacular shot! The color of the sky is phenomenal. I know, I know, the sky is blue, right? Well ... not here, and certainly not at this time of year. That golden dome against that blue, blue sky is absolutely gorgeous!

It's funny how a good church always draws my attention, especially since religion is so opposite my nature. I guess I "get" religion on a level, but completely miss the point on another. I think that's where my profound interest in places of worship comes from; my lack of belief allows me to see any sacred place in the way this church appears now. It's something gorgeous, an embodiment not of some divine entity, but of our most intimate desire and expectation of ourselves. I believe that we worship God in one form or another because God in every noble and good aspect represents that which we hope to become. I say all of this now, because this image makes me think of that. The gold of the copula, the details below it, the colors, the intensity, the purity...those are all what we think of when the more spiritual aspects of faith come into our minds, and I love this photograph because it embodies that so succinctly...and there's not a goofy, anatomically incorrect angel in sight. (I never understood why angels don't have hunch backs...I mean, where are the muscles for those HUGE wings?) Yeah, and the high altitude military jet and the sunlight just add to it. This is wonderful work, as beautiful as those gaudy, gold things I have yet to see in Ukraine and Russia. I love this image!

Hey at least you had the polarizing filter WITH you...I usually find out that I've left things at home at the time I need them, actually...allot of the time it is my camera I've left home...lol I do hope you put up a tree this year even if it is just for you and Mandy. Sitting in the dark with just the lights on, just awesome. Sure Mandy would love it to!:-)Yep..I hear her whispering that she hopes you do...:-)

Incredible capture! Lighting is superb, and casts a wonderful reflection off this structure! Stellar clear blue sky, with the trails of a plane left behind! Really makes you think about relative size! Wonderful composition!

I love how you have caught the light on the dome and steeple of this church, it gives it a beautiful golden look.
orig_buggy

Shades of Notre Dame University! They also have a golden dome, which they like to show on TV during half time of their football games. Scintillating POV, clarity, contrasts and lighting effects in this shot, Bill.
