Description

A new view of the colors of autumn here, more on the shades of yellow and brown. This is a canal in Scorzè, near Venice. The shot was taken last October, and the colors reminded me the paintings of many 19th century artists so much that I made a postwork hinting at it. And I think that the poem by the Scottish poet James Thomson is an apt companion to it. Exerpt from To Autumn by James Thomson (1700-1748) BUT see the fading many-colour’d Woods,/ Shade deepening over Shade, the Country round/ Imbrown; a crowded Umbrage, dusk , and dun,/ Of every Hue, from wan declining Green/ To sooty Dark.
