Description

Please bear with me as I am trying to watch the latest Star Trek film on DVD with Chip, as my roommate, Neil continues to pop in to tell us the status of dinner, while I attempt to post this picture. If I recall correctly--through the haze of nearly 2 months, 678 pictures, technicolor, THX Sound, and the impending state of readiness of Macaroni and Cheese--several friends and I were traveling to a political rally in Suburban Oak Park, Illinois, on the Eisenhower Expressway as the sun went down. As I further recall, we rounded a curve, came through the darkened tunnel of an overpass and this was the view that greeted us. I followed the scene for the next several miles and numerous photos, until darkness obscured all. This shot was among my favorites of the series and was taken on October 6th, 2009.

This is gorgeous! I would have been taking shots out the window constantly, too. I love mac & cheese, and that movie kicks A$$, and your picture is wonderful, and I'd love to be there with you!

Heh! Marilyn said "Fire in the Sky." Nice turn of phrase, and a title to a rather bad UFO abduction movie, based on allegedly true events. The only good thing about that movie was that the aliens didn't have good house keeping skills, and found a really interesting use for plum sauce and Hollywood Slime #5. Beyond that, it was a snore fest featuring lots of flannel shirts and James Garner being a skeptical sheriff, and a surprisingly spooky use of maple syrup spilled on a table. Funny how my mind works, I'd intended to say something reasonable and flattering about a fantastic photo, but instead, I ramble on about a horrendous UFO movie with a good soundtrack, James Garner, and a kinda cute guy who doesn't take his shirt off enough. Oh well. And now, on to the photo. I love the intensity of this sky. You mentioned to me that you don't want to do too many sky shots in a row, but you do them so well that I'd advise you to throw that guideline out the window and just post more! You catch clouds wonderfully, and your automotive prowess shows even here, especially in those tail lights that look vaguely demonic...well...demonic in that "cross-eyed-demon" sort of way, which gives the implied comfort of knowing that even demons need glasses. There's a really cool byplay between light and darkness, with lots of color squeezed into it. Fantastic. I like the composition as well, those street lights really add a strange kind of oomph to this picture. They're deliciously alien in appearance. Great work!

This is gorgeous. Love the capture. Hey that Star Trek movie was awesome. Dave and I took a timeout to watch it too. I have got to buy a copy of that one and add it to my Star Trek collection. When I was little I wanted to be a Vulcan when I grew up. I asked Dave if he thought it was still possible when I grew up, and he said no, I am probably as tall as I am going to get.
