Description
I watch the drizzle outside,
running down the window sill,
collecting in pools near the steps.
Tiny leaves float across the surface,
being tossed on waves by the wind.
Soothing sounds of raindrops dancing
upon the roof above
as each drop is tossed from its cloud,
like a blind skydiver,
not knowing where he will land.
I know the clouds have brought
these raindrops, recycled and reused.
I wonder,
if I go outside and dance in the rain,
when they touch my hair,
my face,
my hands,
my feet,
then slide back down to the ground,
will they be absorbed into the earth again?
Maybe they will make their way
to the water table below,
flow out to the small stream in the back yard,
reach the raging river currents,
and be sent to the ocean shore...
Where when the sun comes out,
they will evaporate,
lifted to the skys
where the clouds will form
and carry them to you.
Across the oceans that seperate us.
Maybe when you are walking home tomorrow
and you feel those first few raindrops upon your face,
they will be the same ones that touched mine.
