Description
This is Kali, she is a white Bengal Tiger, below are some facts about white tigers.
Bengal tigers are also called Indian tigers, they are more numerous in population than any other tiger subspecies. They were killed as a part of sport carried out by Indian and British royalties. Their number declined at a fast rate. They are one of the only two species of cats that like water. At full running speed they reach speeds of up to 40 miles per hour. They do not possess great stamina. The average tiger sleeps between 16 to 18 hours per day.
Royal, majestic and beautiful, the white Bengal tigers (Panthera Tigris) are slowly depleting in their numbers. The unusual coloration of the white Bengal tiger is what makes them very popular at most zoos as well. These white tigers are also known to be solitary animals. Such white tigers are mostly found on the mainland of Southeastern Asia and the in central and southern parts of India. Sadly, although there were around 8 subspecies of this kind, today, with the result of poaching, only four such species are exist.
All white Bengal tigers are the descendants of four cubs of a white tiger originally killed in India. The tigers now in the exhibit first came to the zoo as cubs. They were preceded by a female tiger named Neela, who lived at the zoo until her death at the age of 18.
Kali can be seen at the Knoxville zoo, in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Your photos of animals are remarkable. How do you get them to cooperate so perfectly? When I even think about reaching for my camera it usually scares most animals away. You manage to capture wonderful poses of all shapes and sizes of animals.
