Description

I am not real happy with this one yet. I need your opinions. First I think I may have over done it with the icicles, what do you think? And I wanted fawn tracks in the snow. I tried ever trick that I could remember and even tried to paint some, but it it all looked like crap. So if anyone has any tips on that I would appreciate hearing it. Thanks Becky

Well I think you did a great job and considering the freezes we've had in my area the last few years I think the icicles look about right.

over did on the icicles??? I'd say go to town on that idea... icicles are cool... put more in the picture... as far as tracks in the snow, what i'd do is use cloneing.... clone a dark area of the snow and make several tracks especially some by animals that have left the scene... then, clone some light areas and put some edges around the prints and then clone some medium white and put it around the other edges.... Maybe drop a few leafs here and there, clone some light snow over a few of them.... maybe put a butt indentation on the bench as if somewone was sitting there... drop some food on the ground as if the deer is there for that... maybe stick a half drank'n beer bottle by the bench, some foot prints in the snow... You had to get me started, didn't ya = lol... I like your picture, but like any picture, you and only you know when it's time to leave... If you want more stuff in it, I gave you more to work with with your imagination.

it's toughest and it's the easiest... wait let me see where I've put my universal bump map :P... ok you have photoshop? (I don't have) but there is a noise in filters... create a 4000x4000 or atleast 2000x2000 image with white and grey noise. (White and Grey)... Now... This is your floor (ice floor if you don't mind for the moment)... Now... with your mere guess, draw some black circles where you guess the footprints would be... Now, load it as a bumpmap on the floor and increase the bump (I don't know how to do it in poser, if you ask me about 3ds max I can help) Now place your deer/giselle whatever it is on the floor, render it with indirect illumination enabled, you'll get icicles of your choice... One thing more, please make the floor a little blue, the light will turn the visible part to white itself and leave the blue blue... which'll create your Icicles in the end... and... well icicles have another property which we call translucency... I don't know if poser supports it! ok so much... saying something is much easier than doing... but hope it helps!!! great render so far!!! (If you ask me, I don't think I'd ever indulge myself in such a mess)

Lovely scene Tracks in the snow - just duplicate your layer in PS, use the smudge brush with jitter and set to 'darken' then add some highlights where thelight would catch the raised snow

I really don't have much to add to the suggestions, I think there should be a bit more shadow work in the image..... I really stink in painting in shadows, but I can get by with minor work if needed. Maybe a little burn under parts of the scenery? One thing I noticed immediately is elements where props meet the ground, I tend to blur out those immediate areas with a combination of smudge and softening. But please note that I'm being picky, and its just something I would do for my scenes. The suggestion posted earlier about making tracks is spot-on -^ I love the icicles ^^ Overall, I still feel that this scene is fantastic! It is well-composed, and has a lot of nice detail without looking "busy". It still gets 5 stars because it is really good and deserves it -^ One last suggestion, don't, as I say, "go Lucas" on the image, as I have a habit of doing ^^
