Description
Digital collage created with the Gimp. This was a lot of fun to make, and kept me amused, along with coffee and chocolate, through a snowy afternoon and evening. The original is over 2 megabytes at 2013 by 1560 px. I reduced the size in half in order to post here.

first, I can understand the frustration of having to compress images, esp with the fine lines of this one. I have to do it everytime, and I always, always lose detail. This shows the time you spent with it, not only for its imagination, but for its illustrator's detail. It does feel like the dream of an old machine, the images are spread out in orderly fashion as one would expect in an old gear-laden contraption like this. Martin (groegnitram) and Koosie (koosievantutte) draw things like this, usually for fun though they do wonderfully serious jobs with them. In your case, the machine is in dream mode, with the mechanical nature of humans exposed, the machine's way of seeing 'our' mechanics the way we always see theirs. And, for an artist who makes such wholly modern images (some looking like motherboards & others like microscopic studies of cells, etc), you always have a keen eye for older mechanics--ie, with gears & movable parts & bolted panels, etc. Even in the midst of this device, you have "ornaments"--those shell-like appendages on the two panels above the middle. The detail is deep (would've loved to see it full size), and you've got old illustration techniques all over it. A paneled & compartmentalized piece, beautifully laid out, very 'public' in its appearance, very ceremonial. And I remember the storm---was flying home in it---and what better time to delve into pieces like this than when the outside has completely shut down. Another masterful piece from you...
