Description


There are said to be more than 1000 castles/chateaux in the Dordogne region of south-west France. The Chateau des Milandes is a small castle which was built around 1489. In 1940, the entertainer Josephine Baker rented the chateau and then bought it in 1947 to house her host of adopted children. She redecorated it and there are some lovely art deco bathrooms and art deco examples to see. There are regular falconry exhibitions held there.
