Description
Just a reminder, folks.
The world is not on fire, Al Gore wants influence and money, and you - important as you may feel yourself to be - are not capable of changing the weather.
Let the emotional eco-whining sanctimonious anger begin...

OK my two cents from an AP report today: "Global temperatures are rising by 0.19 degrees Celsius (0.34 degrees Fahrenheit) per decade and twice as fast in the far north, melting Arctic sea ice at record rates. In the Copenhagen talks' final days, the World Meteorological Organization is expected to confirm this was the warmest decade on record." "Oceans, expanding from warmth and melting glaciers, are rising faster than predicted. The world's power plants, automobiles, burning forests and other sources are producing 29 percent more carbon dioxide than in 2000. Not in 2 million years has so much CO2 built up in the atmosphere, says the Global Carbon Project, an international research group." The Retired Men' Association in my city had a speaker who put on an excellent presentation on this subject and I wish you could have been there.

Too bad there isn't a rating lower than 1. You're entitled to your opinion, of course. But that's all it is. I don't claim to be an expert on the subject but I think there's ample proof that something bad is going on. And I say that in as un-sanctimonious a tone as possible- which is more than can be said for you.

Your image makes its point. I agree completely with your comment that mankind is unable to alter the earth's climate. The AP report quoted above is total bunk. The real science that has been done refutes all of Al Gore's "evidence." For example, the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere that comes from man is less than four per cent. If you could magically snap your fingers and make man's contribution disappear, it would make no difference. To spend trillions of dollars to cut in half an amount that makes no difference is foolish. Scientists state that one "average" volcano spews more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere in one week than all of mankind does in a year. I have seen the news articles from the 1970s that said we would be involved in a major ice age by the year 2000. It was dire and horrible what this coming ice age would do to the world's climate. Most people didn't "buy" that so the "experts" went to global warming. The media picked up on it and now it is the politically correct thing to support. But it is for weak-minded slow-thinking individuals without any common sense who do not know how to think for themselves. The facts, not the truth, show it is all a sham, a hoax and total bunk.

Well, on the subject of money and influence I think one doesn't need to look too hard at those in the denial camp to find where the real money and influence is coming from. All I'll say is that on one side we seem to have science, reason and enlightenment and on the other, big business, petro dollars and a hell of a lot of wishful thinking and heads in the sand. Actually I hope you're right but I certainly ain't betting on it! I'll pick logic over whistling in the wind any day...

Just as a side note, folks - the EPA decided today that Carbon Dioxide is a pollutant. That would be "air", for those of you in Berkley. Air is now a pollutant. Get ready for you life to be regulated out of existence because of evil, evil plant growing, life-giving carbon dioxide. Anyone else see how ridiculous the environmental movement has become?
BradleyStoke
If it was only Al Gore you might have a point. However, there's pretty little dissent amongst scientists, very little disagreement amongst (responsible) politicians and a lot of fairly common-sense reasons to believe that global warming is pretty much a man-made phenomenon. And since the main opposition comes from well-financed groups who have a vested interest in continuing the present appalling consumption of fossil fuels and since those who believe in the truth of climate change have absolutely nothing to gain from believing it so, I find this Wall Street Journal, Fox News, Corporate America propaganda rather offensive.
wrpspeed
I agree carbon dioxide is a pollutant and it would do the world a lot of good if every one would stop exhaling. stop breathing for a brighter tomarrow :) if there is money involved, there is no problem that can't be ignored

If politicians dont have an emergancy they create one. Case in point. When the retired head of the National Hurricane Center said that global warming was bull, thats when I started looked closer for myself. He was right.
mzilikazi
dream on! fortunately i will be dead when you are proven wrong. Just read the facts and start to think.
Killebrew
Just ignore facts and get all your info from those celebrated peer reviews. That's where 20 people who all agree sit down and check each other's work and decide they all still agree. Funny how that works.

I give this a 10+ for truth alone!

The saddest thing about climategate is most of the people in power who support the man-made global warming theory seem to be ignoring things totally. With the exception of a few honest scientists who do believe in global warming, I think most of it is fraud to claim money and power. Take GE, they stand to make a fortune when cap and trade passes (or the epa thing that happened today). I think we need to start thinking about the environmentalist groups as Big Enviroment. Even if the world is warming, there's better ways to help the human condition than worrying about global warming or the EPA regulating CO2 emissions without approval from congress. Nice picture.
JohnDelaquiox
yeah global warming is bull we are in fact in a state of global cooling.
turner
Ah, such ignorance. I don't listen to 'celebs' about global warming I look at the evidence. It's a fact people. Shame that so many of us seem to ignore the facts though. I'm sure the millions in already arid countries struggling to survive will welcome the further increase in temperature.

Humanity has changed the face of the world, slashed and burned forests to create massive sprawls. These sprawl cities have their own micro-climates and unique climate conditions of their own....smog, anyone? So we have already altered the Earth's climate, smog wasn't here before us, natural habitats weren't being bulldozed for developments before humans came. To think that we are not effecting the Earth as a whole is to not be thinking at all. By the by, scientists were stating that the environment was an issue decades before Al Gore's political aspirations.
Killebrew
Hmmm. Funny, I thought there was a consensus.
mecforce1
So true when in fact the global temperatures have decreased of the last few years. Get real, the climate continues to change, getting cooler then warmer then cooler again. The idea that the human species can alter the global climate is arragant at this time in our history. I for one know that Al Gore will benefit greatly from this so called crisis. The sky is not falling.

...and one day, in our last breath, we will be able to cite Global Warming negationists a quote from the "Hunt for Red October": ---From IMDB [the Konovalov's own torpedo is about to strike the Konovalov] Andrei Bonovia: You arrogant ass. You've killed us! --- P.S.: have you ever heard Fermi Paradox? if not, google for it. The answer is very simple: they are dead. Like we in the near future.

Amazing work,well done!!!

Let me see...last I heard he uses more energy in his homes in a month than 20 of us "common folk" use in a year...and travels in a private jet. Why wouldn't we believe him? He obviously is doing his part to protect the environment?? I'd be a lot more concerned if I saw the panic-mongers giving up their jets and living by candlelight! Of course it is asking too much of them.. that leaders "lead" by "example" Ah well... with all due respect that is my 2 cents worth.
Killebrew
Well we'd lose our economy, for starters. We'd lose our energy production, because wind turbines and solar panels are terribly inefficient. Lose that and you lose every modern application in your life. We'd lose the ability to make our own choices because we're trying to hand everything over to politcal bodies like the IPCC and the U.N. Note the word "political" and note "scientific". That's your first big red flag. Let's not beat around the bush here, folks. The global warming hoax is being pushed by A)Scientists and politicains, most of which are statisticians, not climatologists B)The 1970's Eco-leftovers who have turned Greenpeace from a nature conservation cause into an anti-globalization scheme. Even the co-founder of Greenpeace quit because he was so fed up with how it had been hijacked by politics. Looking at some trumped up 50-year projection computer models says we're all going to die because the Earth's temperature is going to raise 1/10'th of 1 percent if we don't do something. Gasp! Looking at known data from the past doesn't support any of this nonsense. Personally, I'll take the 1/10'th of a degree. It wouldn't even be warm enough to help farmers grow orange trees in Chicago, but right now I'm freezing my butt off. As for those 50 year projection models, I'll trust them when they can predict the weather even one month out within 1 degree of accuracy. I know Al Gore's Power Point presentation was really pretty, but it's totally and completely wrong. Heat doesn't follow carbon like he said. He shifted the graph a few hundred years. Carbon follows heat. Of course he's quietly stopped talking about that since a real scientists stepped up and said "No, Al. You're totally wrong about that." Al responded by forbidding any debates on the subject. He still has yet to attend one. If you're right, you don't have to hide from people who say you're wrong. And since every natural thing on the planet contains carbon, please don't have any kids, don't breathe, and for God's sake don't ever die - because your corpse is going to leave a carbon footprint. Also, go paste the leaves back on the trees each winter because when they fall off they rot, and this releases deadly, toxic, poisonous, black-plague natural carbon. 150 years from now they're going to look back at us and wonder how we could have been so arrogant as to think we control a planet's temperature. This is Middle Age thinking going on here. Step away from the tv and consider the sun for a minute. It'll all start to come back to you from Kindergarten. Give a hoot - don't pollute. Pick up your trash and throw it in the garbage can. Go ahead and plant a tree. That's a good thing. Just don't be stupid and give your money to a company to do it for you just because they have a green logo with a tree on it and tell you it will save the planet. You're getting scammed. I can make you a nice green logo with a tree on it, and I'm not going to plant squat. Are you buying "Green Windex" for a better environment? Get serious. The only thing green about it is the food coloring. In my lifetime alone we were supposed to suffer: Acid rain killing off all the fish. Global cooling. Global warming. Unbreathable air because of the hole in the ozone. Famies due to over population. All of this by the year 2000. None of it happened. And none of it is going to happen, because it's all end-of-the-world Chicken Little garbage.

Yep!its a lie ITS the sun ,Sun spot activity , That is what causes the (Cycle) of worming, then cooling. How much megatones of Posien is spude out of Valcanos in a Year? This is what's more importent here , the fact that large amount's of expert scientist sold out truth to lie for the highest bidder
thebasstard
@killbrew: My computer works with inefficient water , wind and sun power, strange, isn´t it? That doesn´t mean that we can switch over the whole economy today, but we´can start a transition, without ruining the economy. That the sun´s activity has an effect doesn´t necessarily mean that pollution has none. And your argument isn´t very good in other points either: Should we fight famines and floods only when it´s done by humans and should ignore the consequences of global warming when it´s caused by a difference sun activity? That makes no sense, it´s just showing a "don´t let me bother about other peoples problems mentality." As I mentioned there are other reasons to get away from fossil fuels too: They pollute the environment, even when you take global warming aside. They cause wars over resources, crime and dependence from transnational oil companies. And they are getting scarcer so the global race for them will be intensified. To nuclear power: People who are supporting it usually don´t want to take the waste into their gardens. It´s the same as with oil and gas: take the benefits and let somebody else pay the bill. I´m not an al gore fan by the way. @Ladylight: I switched over to a provider of 100% sustainable energy (wind, solar, water) already. So what? Do you now feel better by knowing that some people are living according to what they belief? Usually not, you call them "fundamentalists". Let´s try a bit of dialectics: What would we lose if the climate warners are wrong and we have switched over to sustainable energy (without need in that case): Absolutely nothing. We would have new decentralized ways of producing energy; making people more independent from the big Energy Corporations. What would we lose when the warners are right and we don´t switch over to sustainable energy. We would have a loss of land for living and farming resulting in an immense increase in poverty refugees forced to seek a new life in foreign countries, heating up hatred, violence and border conflicts, we would have more wars over fossil energy resources (like in Iraq and Afghanistan). We would have an increase in hurricanes and extreme weather conditions. So why this attitude, we´ve to change our way of living or nature and those must struck by globalization and climate change will force us to do so.

I just want to know how do they measure the temperature and where???, of course here not. Worst, how do you measure the sea level? The ozone hole was great, pity that is forgoten, don't worry, the sun continue to be an assasin. Poor polar bears, with the artic melting where they can find ice to eat, I suppose that they eat ice....

If ignorance is bliss, then you people who deny the obvious truth that the cumulative effects of massive, global use of technology can effect the earth's ecosystems & climate must be a truly joyous bunch. Of course profiteers will attempt to make money off this situation - but to jump from that fact to the delusion that there there is a conspiracy of scientists bent on perpetuating a hoax is just lazy thinking. You folks need to stop drinking the Fox News-Palin-Inhofe koolaid...
Killebrew
You unintentionally bring up an important point against the supposed concrete science behind all these statistician's adjusted numbers that make up charts and graphs showing that we're all about to be covered in seawater. You believe that technology is killing the planet and are therefore a free-thinking intellectual. But to you, those of us who think it's all nonsense must be Republicans who are watching Fox News and wearing Sarah Palin buttons. Keep in mind that not everyone who has posted comments to this render live in the United States as you apparently do, and they have no idea who or what you're referring to. They've just found the evidence lacking all on their own, no American-based perspective needed. This is another example of global warming believers demonstrating that it's not about science - it's about politics, which is what those of us who think it's all nonsensical hysteria have been saying from the start. The Socialists and Communists are out in full force in Copenhagen demonstrating against Democracies. That ought to tell you something about the politics of the environment. Because apparently free societies are the only ones that are causing this supposed increase in global temperatures. Meanwhile leaders of third world countries are there literally crying at podium, saying that if these very same free countries don't start dumping money into their banks the world is going to die. I don't know whether that's laughably transparent greed or just simply embarrassing behavior. The top "scientific" contributers to the Global Warming hysteria have recently been caught faking the numbers and intentionally hiding data when they're not busy adjusting it to meet their end goal, which doesn't come as a surprise to those of us who know it's nonsense, and surprisingly doesn't come as a wake up call to those who think it's real. I'm well aware that a large number of people feel a desire to be important - so important, in fact, they they want to believe that by exhaling they are negatively affecting the planet. But thankfully that's not true. I'm also aware that by buying into the global warming scene, many of those same people feel an empowering sense of righteousness and intellectual superiority that they otherwise lack. But in the end, when this whole thing collapses (as it is currently in the advanced stages of doing), the feelings of righteousness and superiority are going to be replaced with embarrassment and bitterness. And science, which I revere, will have taken a huge hit to its credibility. By wasting time buying into fake end-of-the-world hysterics, we are robbing ourselves of the potentials of future scientific discoveries that come by means of trust in the educational self-regulation of the scientific engines and in the scientific method that drives them. Something important is being destroyed, there's no doubt about that. But it's not the planet Earth. It's legitimate science.
