Description

This clematis made me think of hundreds of silk scarves fluttering in the breeze, hiding and revealing the secret stamens within their depths. Okay, listen ... flights of fancy are allowed ... it's so cold here the creek in back of my house is starting to freeze, and the weather isn't supposed to warm up until Sunday. Yikes! This is January weather, and I'm NOT happy about having it show up this early in the winter! I think this afternoon I'll go to the spa and sit in hot water for a few hours, and maybe get a massage. * sigh * THAT's good for what ails ya! :) In the meantime, here's a bit of June for you ... I shot this at the nursery one beautiful, warm, sunny day that is now just a distant memory. Brrrrrrr!!

Tara, you nailed the inner beauty revealing the blooms secrets. Where I live the summer is refusing to let the season change. What I require is a cold shower.

What a wonderful treat to see this on this morning in particular. I just went outside and looked at the thermometer and it is 8 degrees so this picture is a wonderful reminder that this too shall pass. I'm with you, this is January weather and I'm not ready for it. Of course, I won't like it in January either.

The spa? Sure, rub it in, girlfriend (or well, guess THEY will rub it in, sorry MY mind's frozen as well). At any rate, the title made me think of gauzy, sexy dances and your foto is exactly that. A breath of summer on this very cold morning!!

Your flight of fancy is wonderful, the title very descriptive of the image conjured up by the bloom. Stunning! Clive

Beautiful capture! I can see the dance! Fascinating to look down into the flower and see such detail, and then look back up and see the scarves waving. You would love our highs today in the fifties. I'm not gloating though. Here are a few statistics of San Antonio weather from last June: 3rd warmest recorded June in San Antonio June 2009 average high was 98.1 degrees F We had 12 days of triple digit heat The high on June 29th was 104 degrees F This would have been hot for July or August, though not unheard of. It was quite unusual for June. I would probably freeze solid and break into a lot of little pieces in the weather you are having now. :-) Hope it warms up soon. Enjoy the Spa!

Why is that crowd waving at us? A lovely picture! I am so sorry the weather has turned on you. It is probably my fault since I will be visiting a friend in Auburn in nine days and the weather is just getting ready to greet me.

Oh I love this image...and the warmth that it implies. It was and is COLD in Chicago as well. Yesterday we had daytime temperatures of -12, but the wind chill was closer to -25 to -30! For once, I can say it was warmer in Russia! As for the dancing flower, I love the details and the way it reminds me vaguely of a sea anemone. I love the colors and the sharp contrasts. Great work.

This is beautiful!! I agree with you about the early onset of January this month. I wasn't done with summer, and my begonias were just beautiful until they froze. Perhaps we will get an early spring, then? Hope.
