Description

Special acknowledgements in comments. For millennia there had been incessant war between humans and dragons. The humans had always strived for technological progress and growth. The dragons had resisted; they were determined to keep the old ways, to live with the land. Both sides had suffered terrible losses but neither was closer to victory than when they had first come to conflict. No common ground seemed possible for these perpetual foes. Then came Kailynne. Kailynne was born to dance. She had devoted her entire life to ritual movement. As she grew older she came to know how dance became trance and trance would take you into the spirit world; to connect with the ancestors and your higher self. The secret was just to let go. To focus only on the movement until you broke the connection with your "self." Your mind became no mind which was the universal mind. It was during these times that Kailynne came to know that all beings on earth, yes, even dragons, must share the universal mind. So, to be at conflict with dragons was to be at conflict with yourself. And if you were at conflict with yourself, spiritual progress was not possible. No wonder the human spirit had stagnated during the Dragon Wars. It was at war with itself! Kailynne began to slip into the woods to a sacred grove that the dragons used to honor their dead. There, hidden behind the mighty old growth oaks, she had watched entranced as these mighty beasts danced in frenzied harmony until as one they all collapsed on the ground, seemingly inert to the world. The transition to utter stillness and silence was deafening. Kailynne would find it hard even to breath, as her breath became the loudest noise in the woods. But the dragons would never stir; they were lost to this world. As she became a skillful trance dancer herself, Kailynne often wondered: could the Dragon's dance be a religious ritual? And if it was, were they aware of the universal mind? Or were they simply mindless beasts, devoid of spirituality as the priests preached? But could these men of God have an interest in perpetuating the Dragon Wars? They had certainly grown rich from the peoples devotion during these centuries of strife. But what if humans were not so removed from dragons as everybody was taught? What if everyone shared the universal mind? Did humans and dragons really stand apart in God's creation? Once these thoughts were in her head she could not let them go. So one evening Kailynne had returned to the sacred site to see if the dragons were still there. They were. As she hid behind the old oaks she felt a powerful energy radiating from the site. What was this? It did not feel of this earth and yet it was familiar. Where had she felt it before? Oh my.. it was trance energy! Then she heard the old dragon dance master call out "Let all those who know the dance of the dead step into my circle." At that moment Kailynne's mind let go and she stepped forward into the master's circle. Taken by surprise, the incredulous dragons hesitated but they could not break their ritual circle. They had to let this strange woman in; they had to go with the flow. Then Kailynne danced with the dragons. Though she had not danced the dance before, she never missed a step, she knew it as if she had been born to it. Having accepted her into their circle that night the dragons raised more energy than they ever had raised before. They all tranced together in perfect harmony and when they awoke everyone knew something amazing had happened. Humans and dragons shared the universal mind! Bt working together as one, they could raise more energy than they could ever do working apart. Further conflict was clearly senseless. The time had come to end the Dragon Wars. Here Kailynne and the old dragon masters share a spirited night of dance after the declaration of a much needed peace treaty. But after 1000s of years of conflict with nature, will humans be able to keep the peace with the world's dragons? Or will selfish self interests sabotage the efforts to embrace the universal mind?
