My name is Clive, resident in Cape Town, South Africa. I am an amateur photographer who has been enjoying the medium in a more serious manner since 2003.
I took a trip to the UK armed with a Minolta Maxxum 7000 that I had inherited from my Dad.
Out of the holiday snaps, I managed to get a few that I felt were quite good, but had no idea of how I managed to get them 'right'.
Since then I have done a couple of courses in the darkroom and joined a local photographic society where I was on the committee for a while.
Hopefully I am getting it 'right' more often these days.
I have a Minolta Maxxum 7 and being tied into the lens system, the Sony A100 DSLR was my introduction to the digital world. This has recently been upgraded to the Alpha SLT-A55 and I have to admit that I have shot more digital in the last five years than film!
My daughter Kristen (Kris10) and son Sean (fotoSean) have accounts here too, in the hope that they will learn too and share my passion! Sadly they have been rather quiet of late, much like their dad...
August 2015 marks the end of my 3 years as coordinator for the Photographic section of Renderosity. What a wonderful time of my life that I thoroughly enjoyed! Thank you all for the opportunity!
Keep the smile alive,
Clive

Very fine artwork! Everything is right here: Whitestone, dark sand, light and shadows and a fine small frame in the right color tone. Very interesting the watermarks in the sand from erosion. Fine catch!

Gorgeous sand! If memory serves me, it's chromite. I used to import it for use in foundry casting. The fine hard grain was perfect for a nice smooth finish on the metal. Chromite was always my favorite, and I do remember I brought it in from South Africa. Gosh ... that was a lonnnnng time ago! Wonderful image, aside from the ramblings you provoked! LOL!

No NO, its a giant monster's skull, see the eye socket and nose, teeth... Missing the lower jaw but clearly a giant monster's skull. Course, it does look like it may have been hit with Godzilla's Atomic Heat Ray :) Awesome shot!
