Well, I am finally uploading my very first picture to my gallery! For our 22nd anniversary I told my hubby, mrestey, that I would love a simple to use camera and he bought me a wonderful Cannon PowerShot SX120.
This picture was taken on our anniversary getaway weekend in October. This is the Mt. Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire, situated at the foot of Mt. Washington, the highest peak in the northeast and the mountain that still holds the record for the highest measured windspeed of 231 MPH.
This beautiful hotel, which is nicknamed the Grand Dame of New Hampshire, was built in 1902 and it wasn't until 2000 that it was open through the winter, as that was the first year that central heating was installed!
When the hotel was first built, many rich families from Boston and New York would come to spend the summer, arriving with numerous steamer trunks and their servants in tow.
One popular feature, even now, is one of the lounges called The Cave, which was built into the basement during prohibition times.
The Grand Dame is certainly a good representative of days gone by!

Great capture of a place we plan to enjoy in the near future. I worked at a similar place on The Seacoast as a kid - now it's just a Marriott....
