Birds are so tricky to nail exactly the way you'd like for detail...I get them that way only now and then. One out of a hundred was the ratio that I heard from digitaleagle one time last summer...probably about right. You got excellent detail on this birds face...particularly the eye:)

Oh, I don't think there is anything at all wrong with the quality of this picture! He's just stunning!!! I love these guys! We have one in the summer here in New Hampshire that hangs around our house and his multitude of song impressions is just wonderful!

Getting a shot of the bird is no cake walk.....atleast not in close proximity. They seem to have a thing for lens I guess, the moment you point it at them, they fly away. Probably it seems like a probing eye to them.....dunno. A excellent job here as well as other bird photos of yours that I got to saw. Keep up the good work friend. :O)) SNAKEY

Good eye contact, a few tips to improve your bird photography, 1st, try and isolate an area so you can get a clean BG. 2nd, set up a perch of interest, 3rd, attract the bird with food, water or sound. In my humble opinion, the brick takes away from a natural setting. You could use some selective sharpening on the bird it self as it looks a tad soft. A clean background (BG) is preferred over a busy BG, as in this photo. Overall this is a good bird photo and you do have an eye for it, happy shooting. http://darrenmckenna.com/
