Description

...or, What is Under Your Bonnet for our UK friends:) Used a Gaussian Blur filter to remove the distraction of lots of other things in the immediate background in the museum in Dayton, Ohio. ...... This is a WWII German Bf 109G-10 Messeschmidt fighter. It was brought to US Air Force test facilities in Dayton, Ohio after the war for evaluation. It was one of the latest variants among more than 30,000 Bf 109s built during WWII. So, what is under its' hood? A Daimler Benz DB 605 D-2 engine. It is an inverted V-12 of more than 1700 Horse Power. [by way of comparison, the first Bf 109 flew with a Rolls Royce 650 HP engine in 1935] For you real enthusiasts, notice the clear, see-through canopy on this G-10. Big improvement visibility-wise. Detailed fact sheet, Click Here Bill:) Crunch and Munch thumb_1989546.jpg

Wow! Great photo. That bird is so clean & shiny, I figured it was a highly detailed model, and this was a close-up/macro photo.

Fantastic job with this! The postwork is most excellent. The answer to the question today for me is, "not much!" My mind has turned to mush from this headcold. So today you get "oooooohh, pretty!" and that's about it! :P

Looks factory fresh, that would be a sight to behold skybound.Great capture non the less and love the postwork. From previous images I must confess envy at all the snow you're getting.Though probably a pain for you, it's great to see the white stuff if only in photo form.

Or, to stretch things a bit, "What's in your wallet?" A question asked at the end of a Capital credit card commercial. Keen kapture of the Messerschitt innards and subsequent postwork, Bill. I may start using the Gaussian blur filter in my future efforts. It has a lot of competition among the other blur filters, though.

Nice shot and postwork. ME109s are a special area of research for me ever since I read an article in WINGS magazine (c.1975, still have it - lol) detailing the K model. Turns out we now know that not one aircraft featured in that article was a K. Anyhow, I now know way too much about these for my own good and I own a gas cap to boot! This was the parts plane for the G10 Evergreen owns (in Mcminneville, OR - nice plane, too) and was planning on flying until the untimely death of Mike Smith.
