I knew nothing about him until I saw this image. I wonder if the horse rearing on its hind legs follows the convention of depicting a hero dying of battle wounds? If a horse is standing with all for hooves on the ground, the person riding the horse died of old age or natural causes. If the horse has one hoof off of the ground, the rider died of battle related wounds long after battle, and if a horse is rearing up, then the person riding the horse died in combat or not too long after. Judging by this image, he died heroically! Wonderful work!
