Description

Some details are only seen in full size view. My job has been keeping me very busy and I've had very little time to play with Vue. However, yesterday I did manage to find the time to make this image. I had this somewhat crazy idea of a kind of planetary lighthouse and wanted to see how it would look like. Happy Holidays! EDIT: after several comments about the opacity of the beacons, I decided to make them 50% transparent and updated the image. But, to be honest, there's no big difference because there's nothing in the background that reveals the transparency. I also followed the hint from geirla, he was right about the beacon on the night side partially iluminating the planet. Thanks!

Very nice Artur, although the planet reminds me of a type of mine used during the war in water. Maybe those shafts of light are just a little too opaque. Hope you and your family have a great festive season too!

Nice looking world and interesting concept. The beams do perhaps look a bit too opaque. Wouldn't they cast more light on the night side of the world?

It looks damned dangerous to that near by planet. One of those killer beams and POOF! Major damage! Interesting looking planet. Beams look like solid light, like light saber beams.

I can only imagine how many people live in that ring around mother world. Just thinking about how many people live on Babylon 5 and how big the space station is.

Excellent concept - reminds me of the 70s album by Klaatu, "Hope", about a lighthouse keeper as the last remaining survivor on his world... Beautifully done!

I love the little details you used, such as the starburst patterns on the planet and the space "mist" (sorry, I know that's not the right word for it). Wonderful!

Very cool idea - inventive and like how you have illustrated it. Of course no idea what good a lighthouse would be when you have stars but that's all for the imagination!
