This is wonderful, and quite a message. As I was leaving the hospital the other day from an appointment. There was an older gentleman sitting right outside the entrance, and it was pouring down rain that day and very cold, he was in a covered area but still I paused to think how can I help this man, or offer help, so I just stopped and asked if he needed some assistance and he smiled and said no my wife has gone off in search of our car if it hasn't floated away and then he gave me a warm smile and said thanks for asking and Merry Christmas. And it put a whole new perspective on what I had been facing that day. Merry Christmas to you !!

OH wow....as a nurse that works at a nursing home...i ABSOLUTLY LOVE THIS! One reason I love nursing homes (It is also a live in rehab center...and yes there are also young people long-term and for rehab) In a long-term facility you get to know the patients/residents. You see past the wheelchairs or other difficulties they face...and see the true person. These are amazing people whose life I am PRIVILIDGED to be a part of. You are so right, many don't see these wonderful people for who they are. I am honored to see who they are...and believe me, they would put many of us to shame. I am honored to be a part of their life. I think the same way outside my job..but at my job i have the chance to spend more time with these wondeful people...Thanks for posting this. I would LOVE to post this to remind some of my co-workers...--Ginny, LPN PS...My three wonderful children were raised with the same philosophy as to look past what they see...

Thank you everyone! This is one of simplest, strongest, and most personal pieces. It is created in Adobe Illustrator. As you may have guessed I have a disability. I made this piece in response to the way that some people react when they first see/meet me. As with most of my art, this piece is printed on canvas and custom framed.
