Description

Kaylie and Prea spent the next several days in the cube. Prea spent most of the time sleeping. Like all dragons, she could go for long periods of time without sleep, but then would have to sleep longer to be fully rested. Knowing this, Kaylie let her sleep while she spent most of her time exploring their temporary home. The cube was a lot bigger than it looked from the outside. She found two more levels besides the one they were on. The level below them was almost cave like, and about the only thing of note that she found there was what could only be described as lava. The level above them seemed to be some kind of storage area. Here she found everything from clothes to food and weapons. Everything was magically preserved and there was no way of knowing how long any of it had been here. The books and scrolls she found in the storage area and in the living area occupied most of her time. She did a lot of reading while Prea slept, trying to find some clue as to who had built this place and why. She didn't find out very much that was helpful, all she knew for sure was that a very powerful sorceress had made this place some time in the past and had spent a lot of time here. How long ago it was made and how much time she spent here couldn't be determined by the writings. Kaylie was able to determine that the strange door in the wall next to the window opened into another dimension. But where it lead to exactly, she couldn't find in any of what she read. When Prea finally woke up, Kaylie filled her in on what all she had discovered. Prea yawned and asked "Then I guess we are going through the door as well?" "I'm afraid so" Kaylie replied. "It's either that or go back out there and see if we can find anything else." Prea looks out the window and says "I think I'd rather take my chances with the door, we could wander around out there for years and not find anything else." "I agree," Kaylie says, looking up at her friend. "Do you want to open the door this time?" Prea looks down with a grin and reaches for the door.
