I've been absent from RR for many weeks, except for a few uploads; but this New Year's Eve I wanted to stop at everyone's gallery to say happy new years, and give thanks to all of you for what you give here. And thank you Brad, for coming to my gallery when I barely came to anyone's: I don't take that for granted. I can only do one image per gallery this week, so I have to choose among many; and since yours are of equal fineness, it's not easy to pick one. I chose this for the simple reason that it's a winter scene, and where I live (Chicago), winter hits hard and early. (Well, where you are, I imagine it always hits hard & early!) As always, you get a rolling feeling with your landscape elements, they're always clear & focussed but they always blend into a carpet of lights & shadows & shapes & highlights. The grand tree in front is majestic, and your detailing in branches, needles and snow is beautiful, both in contrast and execution. And the cabin is intimate & quiet, and I like the green for the door. And your background is a silvery gray, very nice; and those could be mountains, clouds or both. You always integrate animals well too, Brad, always. A very happy new year to you, and I hope 2010 is filled with inspiration. And btw, thanks for identifying my father's car, lol! I had no clue! (It's hard to believe I live in a huge city, isn't it? All I knew was, it was big, and it was very very blue: Shows you how much I know!) Have a terrific New Year!

A wonderful composition, Brad. Nice lighting and textures, especially on the nearest tree. Use of the wind to bend the trees is a nice touch. We do not have mice as big as this in Scotland ( Scots for 'mouse' is 'moose' ) ... ;o) I have VUE 8 Complete, but not the time to play with it for any length of time, yet. Your work, as usual is very good. This goes straight to my desktop. Warm regards, and a 2010 full of surprise, contentment and good weather, John.
