Description

The USS Constellation, NCC-1017, was featured in the episode "The Doomsday Machine" and had numbers on the hull that were much lower than those of the Constitution Class Starships that came later. This ship is their precursor. 3d Mesh by "Knight Rider" and customized by Kenneth Thomson Jr.

Technically it's a Constitution class, but still good.

Well the idea here was that the Constellation Class preceded the Constitution Class and that the Enterprise from the new movie is a predecessor to the TOS Enterprise in the "prime" universe.

They did a Trekkian 'reset'...you should see the grief they've had over at Ex Astris Scientia over the size issue, etc. The original Enterprise (post 'Enterprise' show) was actually captained by Robert April (yes, I know way too much about things that aren't important) who was successed by Christopher Pike (seen in the movie, and TOS). The names get repeated a lot over time; the Defiant of DS9 was named after the 'Tholian Web' Defiant on TOS. For example. BTW...;) great pic, likes it.

Hey Pakled, I saw it all. The size fiasco was because Mr. Abrams said meters when he should have said feet. If you change his measurements to ft, it all matches what we should expect to see. I actually posted an art piece "Robert April's Enterprise" elsewhere in my gallery which has this new movie tech... 'sort of' based on a different version of the model built by a different artist. I'm a TOS fan and though I enjoyed the movie a lot, I consider it to be precursor technology to TOS tech. Ken
