Description

This is my brother-in-law, David ... one of my favorite people! I took this on the ferry Thanksgiving weekend. The lighting gave me fits in postwork. Making candid portraits means working with what's there, and it's often not ideal. (Loads of winter light coming across the water and in through a really big window with nothing on the opposite side as a reflector.) But hey ... if I waited until I was perfect at this, I'd never post anything! I loved the expression on his face, though. He's such a cutie!

Wow, the ferry looks like somebody's living room...I'll have to try the ferries...never got to do that years ago. David does look like a person that would be good to be around...and he could fix up your house too:) Must agree with A, whatever you did worked brilliantly!

I love this. It's funny, Pavl gets this same expression on his face, regularly...it's the same expression. Different face, but it lights up in the same candid, open, and often vulnerable way. The post work is wonderful, and since I'm spending a quiet Christmas, looking at stuff like this on Renderosity is the best gift around! Lovely work!

Excellent portrait! His expression reminds me of what was said about a very fine man I knew. It was said that whenever he was in conversation with someone, they felt they were the most important person in the room. David seems to be have been responding in conversation with someone. And I think that someone was feeling joy at in his response.
