Description

My family is visiting for the holiday. We are high up in the mountains of Colorado. It has been lightly snowing all day, and the pines are flocked and the kids had a day of snow play. Now everyone is settled around the fireplace, with hot cocoa and cappuccinos. It is a good time of precious memories. Special thanks to Ilona (vlaaitje) for the sweet white tiger cub photos. Wishing all my R'osity friends, A fun holiday Filled with precious memories Lots of laughter ... and play. Are these Siberian Tigers? Not that it matters, they're fantastic. I can imagine everyone gathered around with hot chocolate and cappuccinos, and when I read that bit of your commentary, I immediately thought of dialogue from the BritCom "Absolutely Fabulous." "Oh yes, I'll have a chapakino." "Cappuccino...Cap-oo-chee-no." "In a small cup." "Espresso." "Oh yes, I am in a bit of a hurry." Of course if I were there, I'd probably bring along a bottle of Becherovka. That stuff tastes like Christmas. Literally! It's strong, but yeah...if Christmas had a taste, it would be Becherovka. Anyway, I'm rambling on, but suffice it to say that I love this piece of work and it's always a pleasure to see your output. I hope you're having a great holiday season and I look forward to more gems like this in the new year!

Because I leave long comments (some longer than others, your gallery being one of the latter), I discovered that it was harder & harder to do 'complete rounds' in a day. It became more like a week, and then I fell behind. Then life took over, and I was away from RR many weeks at a time, and often couldn't do more than a couple of galleries when I was here. Carol, you remain one of the most committed & caring artists here (and you already know what I think of your quality). I'm very grateful that you've been in my gallery in the months when I've barely done more than upload; your warmth & caring has meant a great deal to me in these months. This week I've been stopping at all my supporters once per gallery, to say happy new year and to thank everyone for their presence in my life. (I've looked at everything prior, just not commented.) But when I come here, I'm hit with the waterfall of lushness that typifies so much of your work, and reminded that your work almost always transcends the seasons that you lovingly celebrate. I know you sometimes work with given photos, but you transform them with a brush that stirs up the oceans and creates swirls out of the sun. The three cubs are placed with more than an interaction, you've made another of your musical symphonies out of them, swirling from one to the next, in shade, in hues (using browns & blues to bring out their motion), and in the composition itself, where the heads flow in 3s down to the bottom. But then your heads often create a sweep through your pieces. And the snow makes a rolling landscape of lights & recessions, with your branches in white silhouette against the background like whispers from behind it all. And I love the violet hues atop, like a presence looking down. I hope your christmas was blessed, it sounds like you're having a full & blessed new year up in the Colorado Rockies, and I wish you a wonderful new year. I'll be back, but I didn't want to end this year without giving you my deepest wishes. And my thanks for your presence in my world when I was absent so much. Thank you for giving your light when I was groping for mine. A blessed 2010 for you and all you love, and I wish you many many more.
