Hi All, Merry Christmas to all! Here's a snap from my morning.... It's Edgecote Church on a beautiful sunny Christmas morning with just a sprinkling of snow still left of the ground. My Great Grand Father was the head gardener at Edgecote Hall and is buried with his wife here in the church yard, it's a tradition for our family to lay a wreath on thier grave on Christmas morning. A little history.....The church is dedicated to Saint James and was built early in the 13th Century. This area has a mention in the history books, the battle of Edgecote moor took place here during the war of the Roses in 1469, and in 1642 King Charles made Edgecote Hall his headquarters the day before the Battle of Edgehill which was the first battle in the English civil war. On a lighter note in 1995 Edgecote Hall was used during the filming of 'Pride and Predjudice' staring the lovely Colin Firth. The scences in the film set at 'Netherfield' were filmed here using the exterior and interior of the Hall. Enjoy the rest of the day, I hope it's been a good one! Love and best wishes Tracey xxxxxx
