I am 58 years young, live in Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm a true product of my continent. I love the bush, the animals, sunshine, sunsets - oh well, anything to do with nature. I am unmarried and have three sons - 37, 33 and 30 respectively and three granddaugters aged 12, 6 and 4 respectively and obviously the light of my life! Photography has always been a passion and I have loved it since I can remember. I was still using a SLR camera and only switched to digital only in late 2007! My other passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have travelled fairly widely. There are however still many, many places I would love to visit "one day." I am truly an amateur photographer and do it merely as a hobby. So please be gentle when you comment on my work. :-) Thank you Piet, my dear friend, for convincing me to place my work on Renderosity. You owe me one! Hugs, Carin xx

Carin, I've owed you a visit for so long, I'm almost embarrassed to show up at all. But I've not been on rosity more than a handful of times in several months (even after all my visitors to chicago posted pic after pic), so it's not just you I've missed. Tonight I'm seeing everyone only once, to say happy new year, so I'll be back here after the 1st...I chose this because it's so fascinating, and so creative, and because it struck me the minute I saw it. ( I look at your gallery several times a week.) it's definitely South Manhattan; although who knows, maybe you've pastiched other sections into it. I see one of the bridges---the Brooklyn, maybe?---a big moon, and a wonderful grayish b&w that seems as much of the 30s as of this decade. (Well, the World Trade Center dates it back a decade.) But you have these colored puzzle pieces around it---in varying focus (which I love) and it feels like the picture that appeared when someone blew away the puzzle---a kind of ghost-image of a NYCity we haven't seen in a while, with a saturated glow around the towers and from the moon. Not sure what "Ravensb-" is, but I like that you have it there; as well as a date that's half obscured. A real 'glimpse' piece; and, as an image, it's both fun & naggingly haunting. Terrific job Carin. Given the wonderful reports you get among those I know, I'm glad I finally got here; and I wish you a terrific New Year where it's actually summer (you wanna trade? We're wayyyyy cold tonight!) and many, many more. I'll return after the first: I've always loved your gallery.

Very creative. Harry is on to something. The puzzle pieces look like ruins of some kind and when I noticed the twin towers on the box it took on a more poignant symbolism. Excellent work.
