Description
Fantastic Voyage is a 1966 science fiction film written by Harry Kleiner, based on a story by Otto Klement and Jerome Bixby.Bantam Books obtained the rights for a paperback novelization based on the screenplay and approached Isaac Asimov to write it. Because the novelization was released six months before the movie, many people mistakenly believed Asimov's book had inspired the movie (from wikipedia)... I was one of them !!
In the movie, a scientist has to be saved from certain death by a miniaturized surgical team put in his blood vessels.
The miniaturized crew sailed for Dr. Jan Benes brain aboard the submarine "Proteus"....
This render depicts one moment of it.
This is Bryce with some postwork.

Good rendering of a scene from a great flick. Funny how the near-future of that movie is now decades in the past! Asimov was not happy with his novel and eventually exorcised his feelings by writing an unofficial sequel, FANTASTIC VOYAGE II, this time concentrating on a post-Cold War joint mission based at the Russian counterpart ot CMDF.

The Fantastic Voyage is one of my favorite movies!!! I saw it at the theater when I was a little kid (I was 10 years old) and I remember it as if I saw it yesterday. Though I have never read the book your image captures the spirit of the movie perfectly. Thanks for this trip down memory lane...I think I'll have to find it somewhere on DVD or tape. Great image!!!
