Description

Modeling/rendering: Strata 3D Pro 3.7.1 Post work: Ulead PhotoImpact 7 Well, as you can see, Chris Tyler has nothing to worry about, for sure! A very important render for me, as I raytraced this quite a few times and finally "fine tuned" it after consulting the manual on Raytracing Esoterica. The results aren't perfect, but, I'm kinda happy with it. It actually looks better than the Radiocity render I did.. sharper, which, makes sense, because raytracing is good forhighly reflective surfaces, the book says. Anyway, next up on the learning scale is "caustics". Stay tuned, - it should be funnier than a re-run of "I Love Lucy". :)

Ooooooh! LUVLY! I quite like the shadows and the lighting reflections. Look at the transparent shadows. I like the focal length. It is just right for displaying the glasses. Maybe look a bit better in a room, but excellent anyway. No-one really uses Strata, do they? They must use it and put it into a composition with other programs used.

Each and every render of yours that I look at Howie, causes me to sink back in my chair, shaking my head and marveling over your adept skills using these 3D programs. I've heard the terminology 'raytracing' likely a thousand times - yet I haven't a clue what it means much less how it's accomplished. Regardless, I love the presentation of this because the 3 wine glasses are perfectly positioned, with the vanishing perspective of the floor boards drawing the viewer's line of sight straight into the placement of the goblets. Their reflections hint of a soft red, overhead light source, similar to what might be found at a dance club, which in turn, authenticates the flooring. Masterfully done.
