Description
Oh the pressures of ruling a kingdom...what honour...what responsibility...what work...what tedium...what...does a gal have to do around here to get some excitement?!
Negotiations were slow and stagnating. Trade caravans were stalled owing to foul weather. And tensions within the palace itself were growling long as tempers grew short.
Bickering between guards, aides and advisors steadily grew as the snow outside the massive stone walls of the keep piled higher. None seemed immune to the effects of the almost nonstop quibbling over, frankly, minor things. The braziers in the throne room were not lit on time. Blankets in the dispensary were not suitably soft. Food wasn't prepared just so. Petty annoyances that made the blood boil hotter as the temperature outside steadily dipped lower.
For her own part, however, Queen Arain remained unfazed...save for a growing sense of melancholy and the absence of her lover during the long, cold winter's nights.
On this particular evening, two of her guard sought her out to oversee the resolution of a dispute between them. Which quickly grew from verbal hen pecking, to fisticuffs then outright combat.
She resolved to let them quarrel it out until one of them was in genuine bodily harm. A point which seemed fast approaching.
The only one showing even passing interest in the proceedings was her Majesty's favored pet cat, Malor...and even he was loosing interest.
Arain sighed and turned her gaze away, letting her thoughts drift to her lover, his return, and the eventual departure of the chilling winter snows.

I simply adore the story you've woven here with your image and description! Love the action of the scene and her majesty's bored look. The lighting is fantastic and the ladies are lovely (It's DM...how could they NOT be?!) As always, your story weaving talent never ceases to amaze me!
