Description

This is another view of The Heritage in Chicago. I posted a photograph of it a while back, so if you're interested in the building, you can check it out here One day I'll be done with images from Chicago, but hey ... that day hasn't come yet! This is still downtown near The Bean.

I am fascinated by what appears to be a random pattern of window shades pulled down in the heritage. There's multimillions of dollars spent on modern construction here and I'm whooping about two cents worth of shades. Kind of like the toddler who gets a mega toy for a gift and goes off playing with the box. So, why the shades? Because they reflect light...there's that magic word again:)

another masterful capture of chicago (or any) architecture. (You recently posted a Seattle shot that was wonderful.) It's small but you've got just the right proportions & light & tint. And you caught the shades in the Heritage, as Bill so perceptively pointed out. They're designed to be part of the design: Even Mies van der Rohe--the arch-minimalist of architects--had those kinds of things in mind. And you used that wonderful saturated white light again. Fine detail, fine light, and wonderful reflections. Don't run out of Chicago shots, please! They're just wonderful for everyone to see. I've lived in Chicago for years, and I rarely saw this building: But thanks to you I'm aching to go look at it again. Wonderful image Tara!

If it wasn't so huge in relation to humans, it is almost jewel-like. The colours are beautiful. Oh, look, you got some reflections in the nearest glass...(!)

This is such a cool shot! Literally, the colors are nicely inviting and relaxing, rather like a cool bath on a hot day...funny because its so cold here and I really shouldn't be thinking of anything that recalls temperatures below 80 degrees Fahrenheit. I love the pattern of shades you captured as well as the wonderful glassy greens and softer tones of the sky that aren't exactly a color at all and yet not washout white either. Wonderful work, and the dominance of glass in this picture gives the real impression of actually looking at it through glass if that makes any kind of sense.

A very impressive building and I like how they have given it a bit of design and not just a square box. Lovely colouring in this capture.
