The background colors are angry and "dangerous" colors: well chosen! They highlight the overall mood. Come to think of it, they also say "Bar-B-Q"!

Limited and focused lighting really creates the backdrop of the dramatic impact along with the deadly moody orange/red/black scheme. Strong facial expressions, dramatic posing and perfect point of view ensure the message is clear. Dragon is in pounce pose, what is going to happen one way or other is just moments away. Dramatic and vibrant composition.
