in the hues & dappled shade that you've applied to these elephants, you've given them all a patina of togetherness: They share in the same hues, the same patina, the same glow, softness & shade. But of course they're all different. They're arranged in a dramatic "coming at you" perspective, you've angled the side elephants nicely from the big two, center & right (who are fierce in their power & frontality). And you have delightful young members peeking out from in between, like sprouts coming out of the center; and while it's a fierce herd, there's a closeness about them that suggests they aren't out to harm anyone, just to go on their way. It's not easy to convey that, but I've seen how you convey those kinds of traits in such subtle arts as arrangement, hue, shadow, etc etc. The rest has your usual misty sky and grounds, with undulating hues & shadows. Luminous blues up there too. A sensitive, well felt vision, and as always expertly articulated. I'm glad your time with family was wonderful, Carol, and I wish you a wonderful New Year. Wonderful work once again: Powerful & loving at the same time...
