in my younger days, I'd often doodle stuff down when I was intoxicated.... it looked like this... and then the next day I had a heck of a time figuring it out - lol... If you doodled this, what does it mean? what are the images? What were you thinking?

the color composition within the composition really "works"... lots of energy and flow, very attractive!

Did you ever have to do gesture drawing in art class? That's what this reminds me of...and all the lines across my table cause I missed.... (and the bleach and sponges for cleaning)

wow Mandi, a pen drawing from you! Maybe you've posted others, or maybe you've blended others into your usually highly complex works, but this is the first pen drawing I remember in my experience here. It has many shades of Miro, and it's also pure you: playful, penetrating in spots, menacing in spots, musical & filled with allusions to creatures real & imagined. Lots of open white space (with textures made of stipple and 'foxing'--foxing being the mold naturally occuring on works of art on paper, if you didn't know, which gives a life of its own to whatever it touches). The openness of the image, the nakedness of your lines, etc, are a somewhat new experience here, like we're witnessing the stuff of which you construct your complex abstracts. Do you know early Warhol? His advertising and album cover days? He had line like this, curvilinear, very expressive and very jazzy. (He illustrated some fairly famous jazz lp albums.) Anyone who knows or has played jazz will recognize the complex curving lines here, they're jazz-like in their movements. Coltrane or Sonny Rollins might feel at home with this. (Coltrane if he were still with us...) Hope you do more, it's so nice to see your thought process by itself, so to speak. Lots of rich expression snaking around here...

I like this one, very different from your usual stuff in a way, but still fascinating and wonderfully composed.

I don't want to be rude...'cause I was just about to say "if you were famous"...but maybe you are...I'm sorry I don't know...So? if your name was Picasso, Miro...it would cost a fortune ! I'm sure it's original and that you are very famous here at Rendo., a great artist.
