Quote:
Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded- here and there, now and then- are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty. This is known as 'bad luck.'

A great tribute. Nice moons and planet, and I really like the starfield.

Lovely image - I like that it is accurate and that the background starfield is not overdone! Beautiful work!

i'm always late to the party, because it takes me time to think about and take in your image. in my opinion, it absolutely needs to be seen "full size" (in quotes because i'm betting you rendered larger than we can see it at here). you lose important detail at default size, but that's not what struck me most. Jupiter doesn't quite dominate the image in the Rendo auto-shrunk version the way it does in the orginal. in the larger version, Jupiter seems more luminous to me and its texture seems more interesting. i think i like this composition just as much as the previous image you linked to. the only element that stands out to me is the white spot on the big grey moon in the foreground. it looks like a highlight, even though i'm guessing it's not, which makes that moon look a little more like the 3d sphere it actually is than the moon it represents. everything else seems perfect to me. i especially like the star field. the subtlety of the to background moons is a nice touch.

I was going to say the same thing that Cobalt said, although when viewed at full size, Europa's specular does look a lot better. It definitely is important to view at full size -_^ To me, Jupiter seems to be the star of the show in this image, despite being in the background. Then again, it is hard for Jupiter to not steal the show. Its texture here is bang-on!

Zow, what a great pano. I love the view you've chosen and the sense of depth in the cloud deck.
