Description

This is my fantasy of what "highlands" might look like on Mars. The sky looks like it has a relatively thick atmosphere but it's an illusion. All the photographs I've seen of Martian skylines look like this. It's the dust. When you think about it, lower gravity, no rain, high winds, and extremely fine dust would make for some hazy skylines. Also, the rock is virtually sand/dust free because I thought that the sand and dust might be blown off the highland areas into the lower lands, just a daydream, probably not accurate. I think I'm done with this image now, but as always, any and all comments/suggestions welcome. Thanks! P.S., a great link for examples of Real Martian skies can be found here: http://mars.jpl.nasa.gov/MPF/science/clouds.html

I actually think this is based solidly in fact, and thus is good art. It is nice to see SciFi art attempting to realize genuine non-terrestrial landscapes without sliding into fantasy. I commend you on the awareness of the science behind this wonderful piece of art.
