First, thank you everybody for you concern about me and Kathy. She is doing MUCH better, but I am still doing all of the household chores and errands which doesn't leave me much time for my artwork. This image was originally a study of Daz Studio 3 volumetric lights. I discovered you could parent the volumetric cones to Charley's (Callad) wonderful masked lights set. After that, the image just sort of happened on its own. (Violence checked for the bit of blood on her clothing.) This image has NO postworking except for the logo! Penthesilea is a figure in Greek legend. She was purported to be an Amazon queen who was present at the fall of Troy, fighting with the Trojan defenders. She also was reputed to be undefeated in battle - until Achilles killed her at Troy. The twist: Some writers said she and Achilles were lovers who somehow found themselves on opposing sides in this conflict! How's THAT for a story! BTW you might think the story of the Amazons is fanciful but archeologists are in the process of rethinking this whole subject. In the last ten years a number of burial mounds have been found in Asia Minor - for women warriors. The weapons and armor buried with them showed usage and wear - it was not just for "show". Thanks so much for your support. PLEASE leave a comment!

Glad to hear that things went well for Kathy. This is a truly wonderful render. You are amazing me with what DS can do. You are right about the Amazons. They are a favorite subject of mine. Penthesilea was indeed a warrior queen who died at Troy. She was probably a Scythian Amazon who was bound by treaty to Troy at the time of the Greek invasion. I find it hard to believe that she was Achilles's lover, as he is generally regarded to have been gay and in a long-term relationship. You are also right to portray her with a shield and javelin, as those would have been her first-line weapons. Sadly, we don't have any historically accurate costumes or weapons for that time period, but this image certainly conveys the confidence and defiance she must have displayed. Nicely done! Thanks for sharing!
