Description

I chose the title for this posting since it will be my last Bryce Canyon post and I would like to show you a Hoodoo that is in its final stages of “death by erosion”. The Hoodoo in discussion is in the left foreground. The area below and to the right, shows many chips that have fallen off the Hoodoo and the area under the Hoodoo is also being eroded. It will continue to fall apart or even tip over in the future. Scanned from a photo in May 1996. Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous comments. Dana

Wonderful shot, that terrain is so bizarre and convoluted, I can't imagine how amazing this must be to see in person. Fantastic photo.

You take us on such wonderful journeys with these fotos, Dana. And the fact that this particular view may no longer even exist because of the constant erosion makes this far more special!!

This shot and the others I have yet to comment on are brilliant! I love your use of light and the colors are astounding. I want to comment more tonight, but I'm heading to bed. But I wanted to say at least SOMETHING about at least one of your images as I like them so much and have been peeking at them all week. Great stuff and I look forward to more regular viewing of your gallery. You're posting some amazing things here and I'm glad to see them!

Always also imposing these caricatures in rock . It seems to be drawn up on its throne in top and on the left. Worthy of a King. Cheer still and mile mercies to share your vision ((5++)) Toujours aussi grandioses ces caricatures en rock . Il semble se dresser sur son trône en haut et à gauche .. Digne d'un Roi . Bravo encore et mile mercis de partager ta vision ((5++))

Like giant Rooks, Castles, Pawns, Bishops and a King/Queen for battle in a chess game in nature. Your next move? Nice capture. Aloha

I've really enjoyed this series of pictures! I hope someday to see this in person. It does look like erosion is taking it's toll...I guess nothing stands forever, even the Old Man of the Mountain!

From the vast expanse of Bryce Canyon that you've shown in your fotos, I didn't think that it would ever end. Other than the beautiful color, lighting and raw textures, depicted in this shot is rough and rugged territory. Interesting about the Hoodoo.

Terrific series! I've enjoyed it tremendously. Here they all look like they are standing in proud defiance of the elements and yet to no avail in the end. Very interesting info on their eventual demise. I love watching sped up animated videos of geological change. This would surely be good subject matter for one. Wonderful POV and color! Excellent capture!
