Description
I spotted this eagle perched on top of a beaver dam. It seemed to be patiently waiting for one of the residents of the lodge to poke it's head out.
I sat quietly on a nearby rock for over an hour with my camera in 10 degree F (-12 C) weather waiting for something to happen, but either the beavers were wise to the ambush, or just didn't want to come out in the cold to play.
Wildlife pics can be so difficult at times.

Look at those beautiful strong talons. What a stunning creature. Good on you for making the effort in the cold. I do it all the time and often it was a total waste of time.......but never in my eyes!

What a fantastic shot. I remember a time with a friend of mine. We were bored and not exactly sober. She is Macedonian and introduced me to a Macedonian commedian (she had to translate all of his jokes) but suffice it to say, the humor was distinctly "foreign" but particularly hilarious as the comedian in question declared that he was an expert on the "white headed eagle." Whenever I see bald eagles, can't help but call them "white headed eagles" now. You have captured this raptorial beauty in all of its stunning (and white headed) glory, and I love the resolute expression on his (her?) face. Wonderful details and clarity...and yes, I agree...wildlife photography is never easy. Great work!
