Description

This sits on one of the historical landmarks just behind where i live and i thought it was kind of neat but we are losing a lot of the places cause the owners do not keep them up but this place has been tagged historical and is full of antiques and seems they really don't care at all.The place is covered in the woods so i can't even get a shot of the house.

My mother lived in the "family" house for over 70 years. It was in a historical district and one of the documented homes. But her husband died and she became sick. For years she hardly had enough to heat the house. Meanwhile, it slid on the foundation, the driveway cracked in the extreme weather and the paint peeled. She was fined for not keeping up repairs but she simply couldn't and grant money did not cover a new roof and all the other things that needed doing. It's a shame to lose something of historic value but sometimes the owners have no choice. Even selling and moving from a home that we all grew up in was not a choice - her health and income did not permit it... I feel badly that these things you see are deteriorating. You can only hope someone will offer to help take care of it as a volunteer and chip in on the costs.

Its totally cool! I noticed here that they don't do a great job of taking care of those historical sites. Such a shame, this was a much simpler and in my mind beautiful time! Thank you so much for the lovely comment you left on Empty Arms. It makes me feel good when someone cares as I do about the animals:-)xo
