Description

JS was carefully recovering Lucas's skin when Vasquez joined them: "We won the day, sir!" "It looks so!" nodded JS. "Situation?" "A Skorpio fighter lost." JS raised a questioning eyebrow. "The pilot is OK," she went on, "just scratched and burned a bit. I'm waiting for reports, but our losses are less heavy than I expected. Two dropships managed to escape and some teknikas." JS nodded again. "Vasquez, unjustified destruction or brutality should not be allowed. Arrange some teams for recovering everything we can use, weapons, supplies, the lot. Here we've the biggest galaxy experts." JS grinned pointing to his NMA soldiers and went on "A team, you must choose carefully the members, must cut the joints of the RAT corpses, so their crippled spirits couldn't make the big leap into their sun. At least that's what they believe!". Suddenly he stopped. "Lucas's skull." JS muttered, taking a skull from the remains of the gloomy RAT cart. The slaughter that surrounded her had a strange and unexpected effect on Eve. She couldn't help but think how she was longing for hugging and kissing JS. Feeling a languid sensual ache running through her loins, she flushed. She was lost in these delicious sensations, when she noticed that JS was watching at her with a frowning ironic look and a mischievous smile on his lips. Eve blushed even more. "You'd better think of something else, or my reaction will be much more striking than blush!" JS grinned. "You..." started Eve, but the radio croaked: "Captain Pak, sir. There're troubles at the damaged dropship on the dead ground beyond the crater rim. There's a badly wounded Rogue officer and some want to lynch him. The two 'Urchins' are keeping the mob...er.. soldiers at bay and they ask that you come ASAP. Things are developing for the worse, sir!" When JS and Eve arrived, the crowd of the soldiers and former slaves calmed down, but tension was palpable. "I have to question him. Two men as representatives of the soldiers can stay, the others must obey their orders. Lt. Moreira you're commanded here." JS ordered, his voice calm and cold. His icy silver-grey eyes seemed to pierce the crowd. Then JS turned to the Rogue: "I've some questions and we can do it easy or in the Pershing way. Your choice?" "The Pershing way?" the dying Rogue whispered. "The Pershing way is an old Earthener tradition. Translated for you that means that I'll kill you cutting your throat as it's done with women. Then I'll cut your genitals and shove them into your mouth. Your spirit will be so ashamed for the other ghosts' jeers, that won't dare to present himself to the Creator for reincarnation. So your soul will dissolve forever annihilated in the Nothing." "You won't dare!" "Try me. This is my first officer's skull, you'd dared to give him to the RATs! But, if you tell me the truth, I promise you to honor you as a noble warrior deserves." The Rogue closed his eyes and nodded imperceptibly. "Where's Maurr? And where the RAT survivors fled?" "That bloody coward ran away at the beginning of the battle! Now he's hiding with the RAT survivors in our camp at Boreal Canal." The Rogue answered willingly to JS's other questions. At the end JS took his saber and placed it beside him. JS took his gun for the coup de grace. "Earthener, please, kill me with my saber straight to the heart. She's a very ancient and honored blade. Gramirr, the Brave is her name. I've no heirs, so they'll break her in pieces, or worse, Maurr will take her. You're a warrior and you've honor, please keep and wield her in battle. I'll be honored if you do this for me." He paused then added: "The High Matriarch is sending our first fleet against you. The Red Mantles' chieftain is in charge. The admiral ship is the new cruiser 'Bloody Dawn'. She wants to use you as a lesson to the whole galaxy." JS nodded and thrust the fatal blow.

Fantastic image that supports this chapter perfectly. Your narrative creates each scene as it leads up to your posted image. The Rogue officerโ€™s request for death by his own sword โ€“ a military coup de grรขce is the perfect ending as we wait for the arrival of the 'Bloody Dawn'. I own a very close version of that katana. Dana
