Description
Something about her gave him pause, despite the deafening song of pitched battle and the very real possibility that he wouldn't get off the ship without a fight. She had a quiet dignity, even half sprawled against the wall bleeding out, so pregnant that even under the heavy robes it was obvious.
Part of his mind was weighing the odds, already plotting an alternate route off the doomed vessel; one that would allow him to take her along with him. Stealth wasn't exactly an option anymore.
When had he decided to risk his neck for this stranger?
The thought was buried under estimates of available power for his sidearm and a tally of remaining pirates.
Rathego raised his blaster and changed his plans.
The bounty could wait.
