Description

I came upon this abandoned house in the woods while hiking on the north side of Buntzen Lake near Vancouver. Postwork: Converted to monotone. Lowered the gamma to darken the dark portions of the image... I wanted an erie feel to this. Added a slight filter (I don't remember which one) in Photoshop.

This is a visually delicious piece of work. Nicely spooky as only old abandoned houses can be, out in the middle of nowhere. I always think of Rustin Parr's house in The Blair Witch Project with those eerie hand prints on the wall. Though this image has nothing to do with that underappreciated (and over-hyped movie) I like the vibe of vanished humanity here, and the sense of mystery that it evokes. This is a favorite, a rich and dark gem, but a gem nonetheless.
