I was ecstatic when I saw poseable human and animal figures at e-on Software's Cornucopia Store . . . and they're easy to use, too . . . all you have to do is double click on the body part to be edited. They're like the hinged doors and windows of some view models in that they can rotate at the joints without going all over the place.
I've had this guy and the Elven female in my wishlist until we got paid yesterday.
