Description

Russell Square subway station on the Piccadilly Line, London. Arriving train is westbound for 'Heathrow 1,2,3/5' (terminals),twenty five stations away. While stuck in London I enjoyed the 'big city' feel, i.e. subways and double deck buses. The UK now is a member of the EU but has managed to keep its own currency and resisted the pressure from the EU to conform to their rules, hence double deck buses remain. In Germany unfortunately they caved in and Berlin gave up their double deck buses. Double deck buses provided much joy as I grew up in Berlin, either riding to school (very seldom), riding to work (in conjuction with a street car and/or subway), or joy riding (with a monthly pass one could ride as often as one wished). This picture was taken on 20 December 2009. Thank you for viewing, commenting, and favs, Sig... A note about taking pictures. I kind of expected someone from stopping me taking pictures, but nobody did. Same at Heathrow, nobody stopped me from taking pictures. Same at Gare du Nord or Gare l'Est or Munich train stations. No problems. When I tried to take poictures in Miami of a commuter train last year I was told it was not allowed.
